Biometric SIM Verification Extended to May 15

The drive for Biometric SIM Verification is still on as Government of Pakistan has announced to extend the deadline of SIM verification till May 15, 2015.

The telecom operators after successfully verifying 22million SIMs (till 12th April, 2015), has extended the date for SIM verification to May 15, 2015. The announcement was made by the Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan in a press conference on Tuesday. Mr. Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan clearly warned all mobile operators to increase their efforts to verify SIMs as soon as possible and take the matter seriously. The Minister said that the government is more concerned about the national security. He said that:

[pull_quote_center]“Cellular operators must cooperate with us. It is a matter of our national security. A case would be registered against the cellular company whose SIM is found to be involved in any kind of terrorist activity.”[/pull_quote_center]

Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Dr. Ismail Shah earlier informed that some 92.6 million mobile SIMs have been processed under biometric verification system since the National Action Plan started in January 2015. The Chairman said at “Pakistan Mobile App Awards Ceremony 2015″:
