Cricket-Relevant Apps Surge Above 450% During Ongoing T20 World Cup

According to recent data by 9Apps Trends, cricket-relevant apps have witnessed more than 450% increase during the ongoing T-20 ICC World Cup, with traffic hitting the highest point during the second week with the India-Pakistan match. 9Apps Trends is a third-party app store sponsored by Alibaba mobile business unit.

9Apps country manager Ebrahim Popat revealed in a statement:

“We are encouraged by the strong growth in sports-app downloads.”

Pakistan-India previous fortnight’s match observed the maximum number of downloads. A statement notified by 9Apps revealed that before the commencement of T20, the top five cricket-relevant apps were downloaded around 300,000 times per week, but the downloads hove 340% with the World Cup take off.

Hotstar Cricket, the most trending cricket app, has made its place to the top 20 in global standing on 9Apps Trends, with daily downloads topping and attaining more than 200,000 downloads on March 19th, the day India won the league match against Pakistan, the statement alleged.

9Apps also informed that video apps are acquiring exponentially in reputation, with three of the top five cricket-related apps, Hotstar, Cricket T20 2016 Live TV and Cricbuzz, offering videos and live streaming of the matches.

With more than 59% share, mobile browser UC Browser, has refurbished its in-app widget UC Cricket to deliver cricket content and web-built cricket-themed games.
