Ministry Wants Mobile Operators to Provide Better Services to Users: Anusha Rehman

The minister Anusha Rehman showed her keen interest in the matter and referred to the advisory committee that they would continue to work proactively to provide the necessary impetus for the growth of telecom services in Pakistan including urban and rural communities. The ministry also discussed the auction plan with its advisory committee. The committee after the complete market assessment, emerging market scenario, analysis by PTA, FAB and MoITT drafted policy directive for the auction within the current financial year, 2015-2016.

Anusha Rehman in the meeting agreed to auction plan and said that;

“After discussions, it was agreed to consider auctioning 10 MHz of the 850 MHz band in the first phase,”

It seems like the government has realized the growing demand for data services. As in less than two years the broadband subscriber base, which was 3.5 million in 2014, has now crossed 28 million and it’s still increasing. Therefore it’s a very knowledgeable step by the ministry.

  1. In foreign countries 20 to 40 mhz frequencies are auctioned. And here 5 to 10. Then how can international standard services be provided.
