Pakistan Gets Mobile Money Services from Easypaisa and Ericsson

Easypaisa, Pakistan’s first and largest branchless banking solution has now joined hands with the Swedish multinational company Ericsson. The partnership between both the companies aims to accelerate and increase the availability of mobile money services for the country’s citizens. This will also help in positioning banks to succeed in an expanding mobile money ecosystem.

Pakistan Gets Mobile Money Services from Easypaisa and Ericsson

In Pakistan Easypaisa was launched jointly by Tameer Micro Finance Bank and Telenor which is the Norway-based company. The existing Easypaisa service is facilitating more than 21million active consumers and 75,000 agents in over 800 cities throughout Pakistan. It covers both urban as well as the rural areas. This figure represents one of the largest mobile money service offerings in the world.

Nadeem Hussain, Founder, President and CEO, Tameer Micro Finance Bank, said that:

“Easypaisa is continuously focusing on enhancing customers` experience of doing financial transactions in a secure and seamless manner. It is essential to have the right technology partner to roll out new services that provide added benefits and services to propel financial inclusion through branchless banking.”

In this regard, Peter Heuman the Vice President and Head of M-Commerce, Ericsson said that through their work with Easypaisa and Telenor, they provide mobile subscribers with more choices for performing secure and reliable mobile financial transactions.
