PTA Announced Winners of Pakistan Mobile App Awards 2015

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced the winners of “Pakistan Mobile App Awards 2015”; today at Margalla Hotel, Islamabad. The competition was organized in partnership with mobile operators, Internet Society (ISOC) Asia-Pacific Bureau and Samsung. Dr. Ismail Shah, Chairman PTA in his opening remarks welcomed participants and said that this initiative was basically taken by PTA to encourage Pakistani developers and reward the best developers specially students who have developed the most innovative and one that has profound impact on the society. He said that PTA will continue to hold and encourage such initiatives in future also for the development of the ICT industry that holds enormous potential. On this occasion following professionals also presented their views:

  • Dr. Shoaib Ahmed Khan, Chairman P@sha
  • Mr. Rajnesh Singh, Internet Society (ISOC)
  • Michael Patrick Foley CEO Telenor

Speaking at the occasion, Chairman PTA Dr. Syed Ismail Shah said that:

The winners who presented their Mobile Application were

  • Ms. Rabia (1st Winner-Student Category)
  • International Islamic University Islamabad
  • Pre-School Champ App
  • Mr Waqas Ajmal Khan (1st Winner- Professional Category)
  • NUST
  • Catch The Bus App
  • Dr. Mr Hammad: (2nd Winner-Professional Category)
  • Omnes Mobile Verifying App

Minister of IT Ms. Anusha Rehman and Chairman PTA Dr. Ismail Shah distributed the awards among winners.

Ms. Anusha Rehman- State IT Minister, who was the chief guest congratulated all winners. She also shed light on the future plans of IT industry in order to promote such talent from Pakistan. She said:

The revenue of telecom sector will reach USD 17 billion by 2025; this revenue is currently around $4 billion. Government of Pakistan is also establishing tele centres in different areas of the country, especially in rural areas.”[/pull_quote_center]

It may be noted that, total 100 applications were received which were later on scrutinized and evaluated by a committee of IT and Software experts through a transparent procedure of marking. All submissions to the competition were subject to pre-defined criteria including uniqueness, value to public, functionalities, sustainability and quality of the mobile application under agriculture, entertainment, kids, security, community and business categories. Pakistan Mobile App Awards competition proven to be well acknowledged, reflecting a lively evolution of innovation in Pakistan duly supported after introduction of 3G / 4G services in the country.
