Towershare Deals with Warid Telecom

After the introduction of 3G & 4G in Pakistan last April 2014, this April brought another big progress in the telecom industry and that is most likely to spread the growth and coverage of cellular broadband access across the country.

This achievement is the result of a recent deal between Warid Telecom & Towershare – a leading operator of wireless communications infrastructure with focus on Middle East North Africa and South Asia region.

According to the deal, Towershare will get 4,500 base transceiver station (BTS) towers previously operated by Warid Telecom, as reported by other telecom news sites.

Later the coverage is expected to increase with Ufone partnership in to the remote areas of Pakistan. Under the agreement, Towershare will rent spaces to Ufone on cell sites that they will build.

Towershare’s entry in the Pakistani market and aggressive expansion plans are therefore very beneficial for both the industry and consumers because of the advantages attached to infrastructure sharing

There is great advantage of such partnership for operators and users; together which will boost national economy. Due to the Biometric SIM Verification process, the country’s broadband penetration remains under 10% or 12 million as of March, 2015 stats by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). Hence, such partnerships can be beneficial for the progress of ICT sector.
