USF Aims to Empower Women by Establishing 50 Computer Labs

With the emerging new trends, women are considered a very important entity of the society. To make the women more valuable resource, Universal Service Fund has planned to award a special project for establishment of 50 Computer Labs (ICT Facilities) at Women Empowerment Centers (WECs).  In the recent meeting held between Board of Directors, USF and the Minister of State for IT & Telecom the performance of USF was reviewed. USF in the second phase also aims to establish another 100 Computer Labs for the growth and empowerment of women. Other Board members including the Secretary IT Mr. Rizwan Bashir Khan,  Member Telecom Mr. Mudassar Hussain, Chairman PTA Dr. Syed Ismail Shah, CEO USF Mr. Faisal Sattar were also present in the meeting.

To make the project more effective, Empowerment Centers (WECs) in collaboration with Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) was awarded to the lowest bidder. Other than that training process has also been started by the Microsoft.As we all know that computer literacy has become the basic requirement for every white collar as well as ordinary jobs. By establishing these computer labs, marginalized women will be providing vocational training. It is expected that these computer labs will provide scientific direction to their knowledge.

Young and passionate girls with these labs will get a chance to avail many opportunities to boost up their careers. This will surely make them independent and economically empowered.
