On Thursday, Universal Service Fund Company (USF Co) 44^th Board of Directors Meeting was held at the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom, here in Islamabad.

The meeting was headed by the Minister of State for IT & Telecom, Anusha Rehman in which an outline of the company’s two years plan together with the core efforts and progress of telecommunication services in un-served and under-served places all over the length and breadth of the country by USF Co were assessed. The Chairperson, Board of Directors and USF Co management attended the meeting.

Other Board members including the Secretary IT; Mr. Rizwan Bashir Khan, Member Telecom; Mr. Mudassar Hussain, Chairman PTA; Dr. Syed Ismail Shah, Chief Executive Officer Mobilink Mr. Jeffery Alan Hedberg, VP ISPs of Pakistan Mr. Azfar Manzoor, Chairman CAOP Mr. Kaukab Iqbal and CEO USF Co; Mr. Faisal Sattar were also there during the meeting.

The Board of Directors took in to consideration the task for the endowment of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) for Basic Education Community Schools. The Minister of State for IT & Telecom explicitly instructed the USF Management to provide key prominence to the affordability and accessibility when it emanates to the delivery of telecommunication services to the people living in remote and under-served regions.

The Minister also notified USF’s Management to conduct a study and introduce marginal tactics for broadband coverage going onward. The administration was probed to recommend possibilities for enhancement of process to empower ideal infrastructure sharing on USF organized project both on coverage and fiber program.
